Frequently Asked Questions

This Frequently Asked Questions page tries to answer all the main questions you may have about our activities. If you have any questions not answered here, please feel free to contact us.

What is a Photo Walk?

A photo walk is a photography dedicated walking activity that can have photography tuition along the way.
At Photowalks.pt, we organize photography walking tours in Lisbon and all around Portugal, ranging from a couple of hours to several days.

What makes a Photowalks.pt tour different from other tours?

Photowalks.pt was started in 2017 and since then has received terrific reviews from our guests from around the world.
Our activities are great learning experiences where you can explore beautiful places such as Lisbon’s old neighborhoods or some of Portugal’s most amazing villages and landscapes while learning and improving your photography. Our activities only occur at the best times from the photographer’s point of view and are guided by experienced and knowledgeable professionals.
By the end, we say goodbye with great memories and also amazing images that you could improve by attending in person or online one of our Editing Workshops.

How long is a tour? Is there a lot of walking?

Our walking tours range from 2 to 3 hours to a full day in duration. The pace is always effortless, and we stop plenty of times for talking and shooting along our path. Although some trails can have a higher difficulty level, we make sure everybody can walk them and have a great time.

Are tours only conducted in English?

No, we can host in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.
For private tours, you are welcome to choose your preferred language. For open groups where anyone can join, English will be the preferred language despite hosting non-English speakers and making sure all feel welcome and get all the info available.

What if I have no experience with photography?

No problem! Each Photowalk.pt tour is designed for people of all ages and all skill levels. From the absolute beginner to the seasoned pro, all can have a fantastic time and profit in their way from the tour and all the local knowledge.

What kind of camera can I bring to the tour?

You can bring any camera or smartphone to Photowalks.pt activities. Our only recommendation is to avoid bringing too much gear, and if you have questions about what to bring, get in touch. Considering that a digital camera or smartphone with the ability to review images on the go is an excellent option if you intend to get some feedback from what you’re shooting.

Do I need to have a camera to join the tour?

No. Most of our activities are primarily exciting walking tours through amazing areas, great to be visited by anyone. Despite most of the talks about photography, we also have fascinating information about the city, or the areas visited. Anyone will be more than welcome to join without a camera.

What if it’s raining?

In Lisbon, we had a total of 258 days without rain in 2019. Many of the rainy days only had rain for a few hours, and also in 2019, we only had two days of activities canceled because of the rain.
We can go out and run most of our activities in light rain or drizzle and capture fantastic images.
On rare occasions, when conditions become too severe to go out, the tour will be canceled. Two options will be presented to you. Reschedule to another day, or receive a full refund of your booking.

What is the cancellation policy for refunds?

You can always cancel and receive a full refund for any booking up to 24 hours before departure for bookings made through our website Photowalks.pt.
To cancel, you need to use the link on the confirmation email you’ve received upon booking.
If you have any further questions about how to cancel a booking, please get in touch, and we will help with your cancelation.
